Hello Artists and Friends of LAAFA,
I hope everyone is doing well so far this year! I just wanted to send a last minute reminder about an upcoming workshop we will be holding here at LAAFA next week. The course is #707 Composition Crash Course with Marshall Vandruff. This is an intense exploration into the world of composition. Marshall is a great teacher and we always hear heaps of praise from the students after these three day Composition crash courses we've had in the past.
This workshop is a great resource for students from beginning to advanced levels. I have listed some more information below and quotes from past students of Marshall's Composition crash course!
The class is already almost full, so if you are interested in attending call us soon!
"Marshall's Composition Class. One of the most important classes I've ever taken."
-Justin Sweet
"I cannot thank you enough for those [composition] talks. You are simply one of the best informed and well knowledged artisans I have ever had the privilege of listening to and meeting."
-Ron Lemen
"Marshall Vandruff is the most informative, interesting instructor I ever had the good fortune to study with. My only regret is not having met him earlier in my career, it would have saved me vast amounts of time, money and frustration."
-Ed Eyth, Former Director of Creative Services, Henson Studios
"If you care to be a wiser, more knowledgeable and competent artist,
go see Marshall Vandruff."
-Drew Struzan
"Marshall teaches the true fundamentals of composition. After four years at a prestigious art college, he introduced me to important concepts I'd never before encountered. Even now, those are the concepts I think about every time I sit down to do a painting. It changed the way I looked at illustration and tell a story with art."
-Chris Appelhans
707 - 3 Day Composition Crash Course
Instructor: Marshall Vandruff
Fri. - Sun., Feb.16th-18th 12pm-7pm
COMPOSITION FOR ARTISTS begins with an explanation of how artists design their work to emotionally affect a viewer, and how these design choices are far more important to the impact of a masterpiece than skillful technique or "correctness". Marshall gives a series of concentrated lectures extracted from a semester-length DRAWING FROM THE MASTERS course. He focuses on the compositions of great masters and the principles behind all successful artistic forms, principles that have been basic to composing art from the beginning. The sessions will be creatively invigorating, so come prepared to learn.
Hope to see you soon!
Best,
Matthew Marchant
